National Day of Prayer & Fasting-  Brisbane Event – “Brisbane Day of Prayer & Praise 2017”

National Day of Prayer & Fasting

The National Day of Prayer & Fasting – Brisbane  which can alternatively called the Brisbane Day of Prayer & Praise will be held at the Brisbane City Hall (Ithaca Room) on Saturday the 25th of February 2017 between 10am and 4pm as part of the National Day of Prayer and Fasting.

Please REGISTER on eventbrite link, and keep your ticket handy, to indicate that you are coming.

This will be just one of many events taking place around Australia on 25th February 2017 to cry out to God for an outpouring of His Spirit and for many to be saved.

The National Day of Prayer & Fasting – Brisbane event which can alternatively be called the Brisbane Day of Prayer & Praise is being organized by the same team of people that organized the National Day of Prayer & Fasting Events at Queensland Parliamentary Annexe between 2011 and 2016.  This is the same team that also organizes the monthly “Brisbane Prays” prayer meetings during 2015 and 2016, and continuing them in 2017.

The Brisbane team encourages the cities and regions around South East Queensland and Queensland to organize their own events.

There will also be events in SEQ at:

    • Lions Lookout, Ipswich between 6 and 7am.
    • The regular Ipswich Awakening meeting on the Friday night before will also be dedicated to the National Day of Prayer.
    • Lord of the Breakthrough Church in Redcliffe,  6am to noon.
    • Toowoomba City Church 10am to 4pm.

Please check out main National Day of Prayer website for a full list of where other events will be held and more details, and if you do not find one in your region, please consider organizing one on the National Day of Prayer & Fasting, or some prayer & praise events in the 40 Days of Prayer & Praise relay following.

City Lit up in Gold- Breaking News

Thanks to the Brisbane City Council,  the City Hall and Story Bridge will be lit up gold on Friday night (Fri 24th Feb 17) for the National Day of Prayer & Fasting the following day.

They have also agreed to over the weekend (from Friday to Monday) light up in gold Radacliff Place  (6 Queen St) otherwise known as Brisbane Square (outside the BCC Library) on the Corner of Queen St & George St – this will coincide with when the bible reading marathon is taking place at Speakers Corner near Parliament House at the eastern end of George St.

This should look spectacular, and all this beautiful gold light should remind us how God wants to shine his glory in his City !

Brisbane Day of Prayer & Praise– (National Day of Prayer Brisbane Event): Practical Details for Saturday 25 February 2017 – 10am to 4pm City Hall, Brisbane

Why?

The National Day of Prayer & Fasting is an annual gathering to pray and fast for ourselves, our churches, our city, state and nation. The theme of this year’s event is Revival.

Where are the Events for the National Day of Prayer?

This year is different, the focus has now moved to having regional events all over Australia (and its islands). Moving the event regionally focus allows more Australians to get involved, and hopefully continue in joint prayer and worship in their local area….. and to gain greater geographical prayer cover over our nation. Instead of a state pre-event at Queensland Parliament, the hope is that there will  be regional events all over Queensland & Australia on Saturday the 25th of February 2017 on the topic of revival.

There are plans to hold events in Brisbane,Ipswich, Redcliffe,  Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Darwin, Canberra, Hobart, Cairns, Gold Coast, Mildura, Bourke and Newcastle as part of the National Day of Prayer and Fasting initiate…. and in cities and towns where ever christian leaders and prayer leaders across the denominations are able to collaborate  to organize an event on Saturday 25th February 2017. Brisbane’s Prayer and Praise event is being held in the City Hall on Saturday 25th February 2017 at the same time as many other events across the nation.   For location of other events and other details please see main www.nationaldayofprayer.com.au/locations/

In past years (upto and including 2016) there has been a large national event that was held in the Great Hall in Parliament House, Canberra, which is no longer the focus, as regional events are now the focus.  Another reason for moving away from the big national indoor event on the Sunday was that the hire cost of the hall in Canberra Parliament was becoming very expensive….

We are hoping that local churches all across the nation on Sunday 26th February 2017 will allocate significant time or segments towards praying for Revival in our nation. Resources are available from the www.nationaldayofprayer.com.au website to assist churches.

Where is the Brisbane Day of Prayer & Praise?

The “Brisbane Day of Prayer & Praise” or the “National Day of Prayer & Fasting – Brisbane Event” is being held in the Ithaca room in Brisbane City Hall, 64 Adelaide St, Brisbane, QLD 4000, Australia which is near King George Square.

Location of Brisbane City Hall – George and Adelaide St Brisbane City.

When is the Brisbane Day of Prayer and Praise ?

Saturday 25 February 2016, 10am to 4pm. You are encouraged to stay the whole day.

A 72 to 76-hour non-stop Bible Reading Marathon will be begin at Speakers corner near QLD Parliament /Gardens Point QUT entrance the night before , continue during the Prayer and & Praise Event and finish on the Monday afterwards. Please be warned that visitor parking under the Riverside Expressway or in any QUT carpark in 2017 is now very expensive compared to previous years – unless you have a student card to swipe at payment machines- $30 for just over an hour and increases rapidly after that. ie Find somewhere else to park (google first), or better still, catch public transport especially on the Monday unless you qualify for an early bird.).

We will also be running a shorter Bible Reading “Marathon” (mini “no frills” 6 hr version) out the front of the City Hall in King George Square on Saturday 25th Feb 10am to 4pm whilst the Prayer & Praise event is on in City Hall.  For more info about both bible reading marathons please see the page on this website: Bible Reading Marathon

Volunteers will be needed before and on the day. Please let us know if you can help.
